Dive FAQ

Do you provide dive courses? Yes, we have courses for certified divers to continue their education as well as various classes for non-divers to try it out or get started.

Do I have to sign up for diving before arriving at your resort? You are more than welcome to decide if you want to dive once you arrive at Beqa Lagoon Resort, but we will always recommend to book your dives in advance to avoid disappointment, especially for the ‘Big Fish Encounter’ dive.

Do I have to have my own equipment to dive? We understand with excess luggage charges and space allowance not everyone wants to travel with their own equipment, so we have a full range of rental equipment available for our guests. Please feel free to let us know in advance what you might need.

Do I have to be a certified diver to dive at your resort? We offer our guests a wide variety of dive courses to choose from, ranging from just dive experiences to full certification courses.

Can I dive with you if I have a certification from other than PADI? Yes, we do accept certifications of other recognized agencies.

Do you have Nitrox? Yes we have nitrox available, whether you want to use it for just one day of diving, or take advantage of our week long package, giving you the best value for your money.

Do I have to sign up in advance for the "Special Shark Dive"? We highly recommend booking this dive in advance to avoid missing out. We are currently only running the dive on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with limited spaces available.

Is there a Decompression Chamber nearby: Yes, in cases of diving emergencies, divers will be taken by sea and road or low flying aircraft to the Fiji Recompression Chamber Facility in Suva. Charges vary according to circumstances so it is best to have adequate insurance cover.

Do you recommend a wet suit for diving? Our water temperature ranges from 75˚f (25˚c) to 84˚f (29˚c). Most of our guests are comfortable in a 3mm suit during our warm months (November through March) and a 5mm suit the rest of the year. Ultimately it does depend on your personal comfort with the water temperature.

Can my non-diving partner join me at the resort? Beqa Lagoon Resort is ideally set up for both divers and non-divers with a wide range of activities throughout the day, snorkelling around our house reef or around a beautiful desert island, or quite simply relaxing by the pool or in our Lali spa.

Do you have a pool to get started with diving? Yes, we have a fresh water pool to start your confined water dives in.

Can I start my dive course online or at my local dive shop and then continue to receive certification at the resort? Yes. We understand you don’t want to spend all of your holiday reading books and doing tests, so you are more than welcome to do your theory back home through your local dive centre or, for some courses online

Do you have boat night dives on the reef? Yes. We usually offer our guests night dives from our boat at least once a week, or more often if they want to.

What time of day are your dives? Our divers meet at the dive centre at 7:45am and the boats depart at 8:00am. With two dives as standard and a nice long surface interval, the boats are usually returning to the bay at about 1:00pm, just in time for lunch.

How far away are your dive sites? Each of our sites are chosen on a daily basis depending on the weather, so that we may give our divers the best conditions Beqa Lagoon has to offer. Most of our sites range from 30-45 minutes away.

How many divers will be on a boat? While each of our boats are certified for a certain number of divers, we limit this number to 12-16 depending on the vessel in order to give our divers the most comfortable diving we can.

Do you have oxygen on the boat? Yes, all of our boats are fully supplied with all the safety equipment needed, including emergency oxygen.
